Daily Bible Verse

“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 23:1

Be Closer To Jesus

Faith Lutheran Tyler was founded in 2016 and began work to reach out to the residents of the Tyler, TX Community. With an emphasis on the word of God, relevant preaching, and outreach, Faith Church has grown in size but our core beliefs haven't changed a bit. We remain focused on our mission “to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.” The only way this can be accomplished is through growing in our understanding of Jesus through His Word, the Bible.

Faith Lutheran Tyler worships the Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We accept the Bible as God’s inspired and errorless word. It is the only source of truth for life and for eternity.

Faith Lutheran Tyler is dedicated to preaching the truth, that God has prepared a way to save sinners from eternal damnation by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ perfect life and innocent death, the sins of all people have been paid for in full. Jesus’ resurrection is proof of this! Whoever believes (trusts) in Jesus has the forgiveness of sins, possesses eternal life now, and has a certain future with Jesus in Heaven. Believers in Jesus have been given the new life of faith by which they offer their lives in service to the Lord and all people.

What We Believe

In the ancient Middle East, a shepherd needed certain skills to do his job well: knowledge of ediblegrasses, ability to trim hooves, capacity to fend off predators, competency to birth lambs. However, thegreatest qualification of a shepherd is much simpler. A good shepherd needed to care for his sheep.Without that, none of those other skills would be fully utilized. In Scripture meaningful ministry is often pictured as a compassionate shepherd caring for his sheep:Jesus’ care for us; a spiritual leader’s care for his “flock.” Certainly, gospel ministry requires specificskills: ability to actively listen to people, aptitude for applying the gospel to someone’s situation, etc. But ultimately, meaningful ministry requires a compassionate heart—a profound caring for others. Anindividual might know God’s Word backwards and forwards. But if they lack compassion, they will notfully perform meaningful ministry. Today, we ask the Spirit to see how Jesus models a compassionateshepherd’s heart so that we might be filled with that same compassion.
