What We Believe

Faith Lutheran Tyler was founded in 2016 and began work to reach out to the residents of the Tyler Texas Community. With an emphasis on the word of God, relevant preaching, and outreach, Faith has grown in size but our core beliefs haven't changed a bit. We remain focused on our mission “to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.” The only way this can be accomplished is through growing in our understanding of Jesus through His Word, the Bible.
Faith worships the Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We accept the Bible as God’s inspired and errorless word. It is the only source of truth for life and for eternity.

Faith is dedicated to preaching the truth, that God has prepared a way to save sinners from eternal damnation by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ perfect life and innocent death, the sins of all people have been paid for in full. Jesus’ resurrection is proof of this! Whoever believes (trusts) in Jesus has the forgiveness of sins, possesses eternal life now, and has a certain future with Jesus in heaven. Believers in Jesus have been given the new life of faith by which they offer their lives in service to the Lord and all people.

Everything we do is a fruit of our faith. God sent his son Jesus to take away our sins and remove our guilt forever, so it's only natural that we serve him with thanks. For this reason, members of Faith strive to become active in service to our community. But our local church has a broader reach than just the Tyler, Texas area. Through our partnership with our national church body, we can help spread God's kingdom throughout the world.

Faith Church is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). The WELS is the third largest Lutheran church body in America. With national offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, WELS began in 1850. Today, it has grown to over 1,200 congregations in North America. It has over 400,000 baptized members, which includes over 300,000 communicants, served by over 1,000 pastors.

As members of the WELS, we share with our fellow believers in our synod's stated mission: As men, women, and children united in faith and worship by the Word of God, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod exists to make disciples throughout the world for time and for eternity, using the gospel in word and sacrament to win the lost for Christ and to nurture believers for lives of Christian service, all to the glory of God.
